Ansys license error - no free license
Problem: Ansys does not start, it fails with the following message:
Product: ANSYS/Research
 Checkout failed for the above product.
 Maximum number of users already reached
Solution:
We only have a limited number of Ansys Research licenses at CERN that is reserved for use when this license is really needed. The error message you get indicates that this license is already in use. Unless you need to do an Ansys simulation with many nodes, please ALWAYS use the Academic versions instead. The default version is: Academic Teaching Advanced. Alternatively, you can use Academic Research or Academic Associate licenses that have higher node limits.
You can select the Academic Teaching Advanced version from the Ansys launcher window. On Windows, please first go to: "Configure Ansys products" to set Academic Teaching Advanced as default before you proceed to launch Ansys. (From the Ansys Workbench environment, the licence settings are located under Options -> Tools -> Licences on the startup window.)
